CORDEX

The COordinated Regional Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX) is related to the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). The CORDEX intention is to organize an international coordinated framework to simulate regional climate projections in different regions of the world.

Within CORDEX an ensemble of multiple dynamical and statistical downscaling models considering multiple forcing GCMs from the CMIP5 archive based on multiple RCP scenarios is compiled. For most of the regions a 50 km grid spacing has been selected, favoring engagement of wider community. Multiple common domains covering all (or most) land areas in the World have been selected (with initial focus on AFRICA).

The first results from the CORDEX simulations are available on the ESG nodes: DKRZ, DMI, Sweden and Norway

Some CORDEX data can be found on other platforms: CORDEX relevant links

The CORDEX domains are international standard domains for regional climate applications. A description of all the CORDEX domains and the specifications on the output format for the data archive are summarized in Icon PDF.

The CORDEX terms of use can be found here, and the archive specifications here.
