COSMO-CLM-Forcing
Forcing data have to be netCDF (standard CF-1.0 formatted) or GRIB format. Minimal resolution in time recommended is 6 hours.
Several datasets (NCEP, ERA and CCLM-data) are available at DKRZ for members of CLM-communtiy (Forcing data, login necessary).
Downscaling Factor
Systematic investigations of the downscaling factor (Forcing/COSMO-CLM) for the COSMO-CLM are not available at the moment.
A reference configuration is ECHAM5 (T63) / CLM-K (0.165) over Europe resulting in a downscaling factor of approx. 17 for the dynamical grids. Higher downscaling factors are not recommended.
At higher resolutions and smaller model domains also downscaling factors are recommended.

External parameters for the CORDEX-Domains
The CORDEX domains are international standard domains for regional climate applications.
In order to increase the reproducibility of the simulation results and to avoid missinterpretation of the results the cosmo model grids for the different CORDEX domains are given in the following tables together with the definition of the recommended external parameter data files.
